THE PROCESS: “How do you tattoo eyeliner?”

Curious about how to get those perfect eyeliner lines every day? Here’s the step-by-step process of the eyeliner tattoo procedure:

1. Examination / Consultation

First things first, before getting your eyeliner tattooed, we’ll have a casual discussion. This is your chance to chat with me about what you’re looking for, show me some inspiration pictures, and make sure that you’re a good candidate for the procedure. We’ll also go over any concerns you might have and explain the process in more detail. It’s a great opportunity to get to know each other and to make sure you’re comfortable before the procedure.

2. Mapping and numbing cream

Before we start tattooing your eyeliner, I like to do something called “mapping”. It’s a super cool process where I use a pen or a pencil to draw the shape of the eyeliner on your skin. It’s a great way to visualize the final look and make any adjustments before we start tattooing.

You get to see how the eyeliner will look on you and give so we can make sure to create the perfect look for you.

3. Tattooing your new eyeliner

Now, I would get the pigment ready for the tattoo. This step is quick and easy, I custom-mix the pigment to match your unique skin tone and undertone for the best possible fading results.

Alright, now it’s time for the fun part, the tattooing process! First, I’ll get the machine ready and then start going over your eyelids, moving the machine back and forth in a pendulum-like motion. I’ll start slow and check in with you to make sure you’re feeling okay. Numbing cream can be reapplied if it gets too uncomfortable.

If everything is good, I’ll start filling in the designated area with the chosen pigment. It’s important to keep your eyes closed throughout the procedure, just to be safe and make sure that the pigment won’t get into your eyes and cause any discomfort. I’ll let you know when you can open your eyes again.

Next, I’ll go over the entire area again to ensure that enough pigment is deposited. It’s important to make sure that the color is even and the desired shape is achieved. You may start noticing a bit of swelling on your eyelids at this point, but don’t worry, it’s normal and it should go away quickly.

And that’s a wrap! The tattooing process is now finished. I’ll clean up the area with a foaming cleanser to remove any remaining pigment. You’ll finally get to see the result of your new eyeliner tattoo in the mirror. Keep in mind, we usually don’t do more than 2 passes since the eyelid skin is delicate and we want to avoid overworking it or causing unnecessary swelling. But you should be happy with the final look.

WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

Eyeliner tattooing is suitable for a variety of people, including those who want to enhance their natural appearance, those who have difficulty applying makeup due to physical limitations, and those who have an active lifestyle.

It can be ideal for people with sensitive eyes or makeup allergies. It’s also suitable for people who have lost their eyebrows or eyelashes due to medical conditions or treatments.

However, it’s important to note that eyeliner tattooing is not suitable for everyone, particularly those who have certain medical conditions such as diabetes, eczema, or a history of keloid scarring. It’s also not suitable for people who are pregnant or nursing. It’s always recommended to consult with a professional before getting eyeliner tattooed.

AFTERCARE: “What’s the healing process of eyeliner tattoos?”

Your freshly tattooed eyeliner will go through a natural healing process and it is important to know the right aftercare for beautiful and lasting results.

It’s important to follow the aftercare instructions, which typically include keeping the area clean and moisturized, avoiding sun exposure and sweating, and avoiding picking or scratching the area.

After the healing process, it’s also important to schedule a touch-up session to make sure the color is even, and it’s as desired.

WHAT IS NORMAL?

  • Immediately after the procedure: The area will be swollen and tender, and the color will appear darker and more intense than the desired final result.

  • Days 1-3: The area will continue to be swollen and tender, and some scabbing may occur.

  • Days 4-7: The scabs will start to flake and peel, revealing the healed color underneath. It’s important to avoid picking at the scabs, as it can cause scarring or loss of color.

  • Days 8-14: The color will start to soften and fade to the desired final result. The area may still be slightly tender and swollen.

  • After 2 weeks: The healing process is complete, and the color should have fully settled. The area may still be slightly tender, but any redness or swelling should have subsided.

AFTERCARE

  • Keep the area clean: Gently clean the area with mild soap and lukewarm water, and pat dry.

  • Apply ointment: Apply a thin layer of a recommended ointment or moisturizer to the area to help keep it moisturized and promote healing.

  • Avoid sun exposure: Keep the area out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds for at least 2 weeks, as UV rays can cause fading or discoloration of the tattoo.

  • Avoid sweating: Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, such as working out, saunas, or hot baths, as sweat can cause irritation and slow the healing process.

  • Avoid picking or scratching: Avoid picking or scratching the area as it can cause scarring or loss of color.

  • Follow-up appointment: Schedule a follow-up appointment to check on the healing progress and make any necessary adjustments.

The healing process can take several weeks, and the color may appear darker and more intense than the desired final result immediately after the procedure. Be patient and give the area time to heal and settle.
